Street art in Ghent is quite prominent. The city has been pursuing an active policy on graffiti for years and with success. Ghent supports individual graffiti artists, gives advice and sets up projects such as the “Sorry, Not Sorry” festival. This festival gave artists the opportunity to use the city as a play & creation space and wanted to bring street art to a large audience.

Straatkunst is behoorlijk prominent aanwezig in Gent. De stad voert al jaren een actief beleid inzake graffiti en straatkunst. In concreto ondersteunt Gent individuele graffitikunstenaars, geeft ze advies en stelt ze projecten op zoals het “Sorry, not sorry” straatkunstfestival. Dit immens populaire festival bood kunstenaars de mogelijkheid om de stad te gebruiken als tentoonstellingsruimte en streefde ernaar een breed publiek te bereiken. Het festival zorgde ervoor dat stad Gent een aantal kleurrijke plaatjes rijker is geworden.

De  “Sorry, not sorry” route biedt een overzicht van alle muurschilderingen die in Gent te bewonderen zijn. Het is een wandelroute die absoluut de moeite waard is.
